Burial & Funeral Home Services

The first human burial was performed 100,000 years ago. This ancient practice has been done across the world. For information on the various interment traditions, please look at the websites listed in the section Sources found below.

Understanding Burial Services

We have a profound respect for the tradition of ground burial at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home & Crematory. To learn more about the burial services we provide, please read on. If you have any questions, we would be honored to answer them, so please call us at 708-532-5400.

You will have to decide many things when choosing to bury a loved one or when you pre-plan interment for yourself. Among the first things you must choose is the cemetery you will use and the burial plot. You also need to pick a casket. Likely a burial vault must be selected since many of today’s cemetery administrators require that one is used to protect the coffin from the weight of the earth and the maintenance equipment that will pass over the grave. Eventually, you have to choose a headstone or marker and decide upon its inscription. A trained staff member is always available to assist you in making these decisions.

Our Invitation to You

We provide numerous burial service options. You can choose a simple burial with a member of our staff there to manage the interment. A basic graveside service is also available, where a minister or celebrant officiates. You can elect to have a traditional funeral service with a burial to follow. Any of these services can be adjusted to meet the particular needs of each family. We work hard to keep your choices affordable.
