Herbert A. "Herb" De Ruiter, age 84, US Army Korean War Veteran, beloved husband for 54 years to Rosemary, nee Belstra. Loving father of Michael (Kerri) De Ruiter and Rev. Steven (Tara) De Ruiter. Cherished grandfather of Alison, Nathan, Caleb, Viktor, and Alice. Dear brother of Grace (late Art) Vander Aa, Ben De Ruiter, late Viola (late Bill) Kuipers, late Henry (late Delores) De Ruiter, late Richard (late Betty) De Ruiter, late Joe (Pearl) De Ruiter, late Peter (late Clarene) De Ruiter, late Ann (late Hank) Beelen, late Tracy (late Mel) Persenaire, and late Jennie (late John) Vander Aa. Fond brother-in-law and uncle of many.

Herb was an avid gardener who found relaxation and spiritual joy while tending to his gardens.

Visitation Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 3-9 PM at Colonial Chapel 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Lying in State Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, 8302 S. Normandy Ave., Burbank, IL 60459 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
