Obituary for William Medinas

William Medinas
William Alexander Medinas of Palos Heights, Illinois, devoted husband of 67 years to Alice (née Jamison); loving father of Linda (Mark) Carr and Laura Medinas; adoring grandfather of Alexander Jamison Carr and Jess Reed Carr; dear brother of Frank, Josephine, Patricia, and Helen; beloved uncle and great uncle passed away at home, surrounded by his family.

William was born in and grew up in Chicago, where he attended Morgan Park High School and the University of Illinois at Navy Pier. A patriot, he served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1952. He was a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, served in Japan, and was on active duty during the Korean Conflict.

William loved travel, dogs, and adventurous eating. He was an avid reader who was interested in history, geography, and languages, and he always called Mark Twain his favorite writer. William loved music, especially opera. Those who knew William loved him for his remarkable generosity and his mischievous sense of humor.

His daughters will always remember and be grateful for his selflessness and unconditional love.

Memorial donations may be made to Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 700 Elm Street, Winnetka, Illinois 60093-2254. https://hadley.edu.
