Russell A. "Russ" Smeltz, age 84, late of Frankfort, IL and formerly of Amboy, IL, U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. Beloved husband of 59 years to Frances, nee Clayton. Loving father of Robert (late Delores) Naylor, Alice (Philip) LeGrand and the late Jack (late Barbara) Naylor and Larry "Red" Naylor. Cherished grandfather of Bill Naylor, Regina (Ralph) Eggen, Suzanne (Greg) Lisak, Jack (Shari) LeGrand, Francie (Tom) Boss. Dearest great-grandfather of Brittany, Steven, Kari, Craig, Andy, Kelli, Luke, Tyler, Allie and the late Amanda. Dear great-great grandfather of 3. Fond brother of Irene Shomper. Preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Raised at Bethany Children's Home in Pennsylvania and graduated from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in 1953 before entering the U.S. Army. Retired printer from RR Donnelley in 1993 with 37 years of service. Lifetime member of the Mendota Moose Lodge #714 and the Mendota VFW Post #4079.

Visitation Tuesday, October 17, 2017, from 3-9 PM. Funeral Service Wednesday, October 18, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave., (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Interment Beverly Cemetery, Blue Island, IL.
